Frequently Asked Questions for MACC, MMIS, and MLSCM
Can I be admitted to a program if I haven't taken the foundation courses?
Yes, you can be admitted to the program as long as you meet the admission requirements. However, the foundation courses must be taken before you begin the 6000-level courses.
Do the foundation courses need to be completed before starting the graduate program?
Yes, foundation courses must be completed before enrolling in 6000-level courses. Specific foundation course requirements can be found in the curriculum section of each degree program we offer. The College of Business and Technology provides self-paced, online foundation modules to assist students with satisfying any needed foundation courses. We will evaluate your transcripts to determine which, if any, foundation modules you need.
How often do classes meet?
The MAcc courses typically meet twice a week during the day. Online MMIS courses have some asynchronous sessions that require students to login to an online class session every other week or so at a scheduled time. The online MLSCM courses are fully online asynchronous courses, which means there are no set online class meetings.
Do I have to take the GMAT or GRE to enroll in classes?
Before enrolling in 6000-level graduate courses, students must meet admission requirements with an acceptable GMAT or GRE score. In some cases, applicants with significant professional experience after receiving a bachelor's degree may use that experience as an alternative to the GMAT or GRE. The GMAT or GRE may be waived for students who have successfully completed an advanced degree or for students who received a business degree at an AACSB accredited college and maintained a certain cumulative undergraduate GPA. Please see the admission requirements on the specific program page for the minimum GPA required when using as an alternative to the GMAT or GRE.
Where can I get help with financial aid?
Students may contact the Financial Aid office at 800-342-0471 or through the website at www.gcsu.edu/financialaid/.
Is there a time limit on the foundation courses?
There is no time limit on the completion of foundation courses; however, students who feel they need a refresher should use their own discretion when deciding whether or not to repeat them prior to enrolling in the 6000-level graduate courses.
How long do I have to complete my graduate degree?
The degree must be completed within seven years.
